Interesting connection between śloka 75 in Soundaryalahari and Rig Veda 2.41.16

  

śloka 75 in Soundaryalahari - attributed to Shri Adi Shankara

·       The original meaning of draviḍa is group grammarians/poets.

·       The poet prays to Devi to make him great among poets (kavīnāṁ prauḍhānā), as himself being an infant among poets (draviḍaśiśu).

तव स्तन्यं मन्ये धरणिधरकन्ये हृदयतः

पयःपारावारः परिवहति सारस्वतमिव ।

दयावत्या दत्तं द्रविडशिशुरा स्वाद्य तव यत्

कवीनां प्रौढानामजनि कमनीयः कवयिता ॥ ७५॥

Translation:

O Parvati (Daughter of the Mountain-King)! I fancy that Thy breast milk is the milk-ocean emerging as poetic inspiration from Thy heart. For, it was by drinking it, so graciously given by Thee, that myself being infant among poets (draviḍaśiśur) became a noted poet (kavīnāṁ prauḍhānā) among great composers.

Rig Veda 2.41.16 - attributed to rishi gṛtsamada śaunaka

अम्बितमे नदीतमे देवितमे सरस्वति । अप्रशस्ता इव स्मसि प्रशस्तिमम्ब नस्कृधि ॥

ambitame nadītame devitame sarasvati | apraśastā iva smasi praśastim amba nas kṛdhi ||

Translation:

O sarasvati ! Great among mothers, energy flows, and, feminine divinities, Mother! make me, engulfed in ignorance (apraśastā), as the one experiencing the DIVINE BLISS (praśastim nas kṛdhi).

Both Rig Veda 2.41.16 and śloka 75 in Soundaryalahari are prayers to the FEMININE DIVINITY requesting to make the poet Blessed with the Wisdom, from being an ignorant person.
